«Figures for Landscapes», eller kunsten å FiFL, et “live” skulpturprosjekt av Agnes Btffn.
Barbara Hepworths skulptur «Figure for landscape» stod lenge gjemt under trærne i parken til Stavanger kunstforeningen. I 2014 ble den solgt for å skaffe midler til drift og utvikling av foreningen. Da skulpturen «Figure for landscape» forsvant fra sin sokkel, vekket det stor oppmerksomhet. Et viktig kunstverk forlot Stavanger.

Prosjektet «FiFL – Figures for landscapes» handler om å gi skulpturen liv gjennom dagens kunstform, «live art».
Prosjektet «Figures for landscapes» aktualiserer emner som tidligere kunstnere har vært opptatt av. Konstantin Brancusi, med sin «Endeløs søyle» samler sokkelen og skulpturen, Max Ernsts kortfilm/dans, der han flytter en mytisk stein fra ørkenen til foten av MOMA gjennom New Yorks gater. Og Barbara Hepworth og Henry Moore, som på 60-tallet abstraherer og inkluderer landskapet og omgivelsene – i åpningene som formen skaper.
Til alle tider og i alle samfunn legges det på ulike vis press på kunstnernes skapelsesprosesser, press som av noen kan oppfattes som sensur og begrensninger, men som også gir nye utfordringer for kunstnerisk utforskning. Da våre tidligere kunstnerkolleger introduserte abstraksjon som prosjekt i kunsten, presset de samtidig fram en fornying av estetikk, dvs. kunnskap om form og det meningsbærende.
Prosjektet «Figures for landscapes» bygger videre på det som er vår tids inneforståtte estetikk men åpner mot nye former ved å:
– integrere publikums aktive deltakelse ved at de er med på å skape den levende skulpturen med sin egen kropp, og gjennom det utfordre de etablerte begrepene om skulptur som en solid og statisk form.
– utfordre myten om det etablerte, unike verket skapt av den geniale kunstneren.
– fremme erfaring som verdi fremfor objektets .
Kunstneren inviterer til deltakelse med «oppgaven», Kunsten å “FiFL”, med venner, etter følgende instruks:
Sammen med venner, finn en sokkel, og med egen kropp, lag figurer som i Hepworths «Figure for landscape» danner åpne rom mot omgivelsene/landskapet.
Fotografer de levende «skulpturene» og legg ut bildene på Instagram #figuresforlandscapes , som info med bildene skriv fornavnet på deltakerene, navnet på fotografen og #barbarahepworth #kunsthallstavanger #sculptureperformance #norwegianperformanceart #vestlandsutstillingen2019 #agnesbtffn

«FiFL – FIGURES FOR LANDSCAPES» a sculpture/performance, photo and video project.
The artwork is rooted in a specific sculpture: “Figure for landscape” by Barbara Hepworth (BH). The sculpture was sold in 2014 to England after standing since 1968 in the Stavanger Art Association’s garden. The base the sculpture stood on was left empty.*
The performance project «FiFL – Figures For Landscapes» by ABT gives life to BH’s bronze sculpture «Figure for landscape» no longer there in the Stavanger garden.
BH’s sculpture «Figure for landscape» embraces the landscape and it’s the surroundings. Though the artist has worked on the abstract shape, the human figure is quite visible.
Since 2014 ABT invites people she meets to join in a performance to create a living sculpture reminding of BH’s «Figure for landscape» with their own body
The participants become in this way owner a little of BH’s artwork as they gain experience and insight in the aesthetic BH developed in making the sculpture.
ABT set focus on the action and the experience rather than the object:
The performance:
The artist invites the public to join her in the act of «FiFL» meaning find a base on which to stand on an alone or as a small group, shape figures with ones own body which reminds of the famous sculpture.
The participants are asked to make an open shape which embraces the landscape around.
The living sculptures are photographed and pictures taken marked #figuresforlandscapes put on Instagram.
The exhibition in the Tante Emmas Hus’s café shows a choice of pictures, posters of FiFL performances, from Stavanger N, Paris Fr, Flørli in the Lysefjord N, Mexico, Copenhagen Dk, Nablus Pl. and other places.
At the opening, will ABT invite the public to FiFL together with her.
